Mobile broadband plans of rural operators

Now that the federal government has completed its process of giving out broadband stimulus awards, it's only fitting that we give some clarity to what has been awarded on the wireless side, as well as highlight the fact that some operators are introducing wireless broadband services without stimulus money. Not surprisingly, WiMAX is set to become a dominant wireless broadband technology in rural America, but LTE may not be far behind as Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) is actively courting rural cellular operators to help it expand its LTE footprint. CommNet Wireless LTE - Expected to launch services to the Navajo Nation across Arizona, New Mexico and Utah in 2011 thanks to broadband stimulus funding.
Convergence Technologies WiMAX - Won broadband stimulus award to bring WiMAX to Indiana.
Crystal Broadband Networks WiMAX - Won broadband stimulus award to bring WiMAX in Arkanasas.
DigitalBridge Communications WiMAX 2.5GHz Offers services in Idaho, South Dakota. Won broadband stimulus awards in Mississippi, Indiana, Idaho.
Hughs Network Systems - Satellite spectrum Won broadband stimulus award to bring broadband to parts of rural America.
Open Range Communications WiMAX Globalstar's satellite spectrum Rolling out services in 500 communities in 17 states. Globalstar has not met coverage requirements and Open Range has until Jan. 2011 to vacate the spectrum.
KeyOn Communications WiMAX 3.65 GHz Won broadband stimulus award to bring WiMAX to parts of Nevada.
Keystone Wireless 3G wireless Licensed cellular spectrum Won broadband stimulus award to bring 3G to central Pennsylvania.
South Georgia Regional Information Technology Authority - 700 MHz, 2.5 GHz Rolling out TD-CDMA services in rural parts of Georgia. 
Sunman Telecommunications WiMAX 700 MHz  Won broadband stimulus award to bring WiMAX in Indiana.
Utopian Wireless  WiMAX 2.5 GHz Won broadband stimulus awards to bring WiMAX to parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Virginia.
West Virginia PCS Alliance EV-DO Rev. A Licensed cellular spectrum Won broadband stimulus award and leveraging the NTELOS PCS network to bring broadband into parts of Maryland.
WildBlue Communications satellite Satellite spectrum WildBlue is using DirecTV and Dish Network satellite to bring to parts of the U.S. through broadband stimulus award
