What year it was a Fierce 15: 2006

Why it was a Fierce 15: Disney's MVNO effort used mPortal's Springboard Smart Client on its handsets for mobile content discovery and the company's Springboard Content Delivery Manager as its data platform under a managed services model. MPortal's Springboard suite of products fit in with its goal of delivering a highly personalized mobile content experience to a specific segment of users less expensively. Click here for more.

What has happened since it was awarded the Fierce 15: MPortal said it continues to expand its role in the discovery and delivery of mobile content and applications. The company said it has expanded its Springboard suite from the original Content Delivery Manager and Smart Client platforms to include the capability to deploy a mobile operator-branded app store and a full-fledged mobile widget platform on mass market phones. Specifically, the company said it has worked with Verizon Wireless on the carrier's forthcoming app store, with Leap Wireless for the carrier's MyHomescreen platform for Samsung, Motorola and Pantech handsets, and with Comcast for the carrier's iPhone app. MPortal said it expects to continue to strengthen its position as a provider of mobile content and applications infrastructure to mobile operators and others.
