Why it was a Fierce 15: SkyCross focused on advanced antenna technology. The firm developed an isolation mode antenna technology, IMAT, that was capable of handling multiple-in, multiple-out (MIMO) signals, as well as multiple frequencies. What has happened since it was awarded the Fierce 15: SkyCross continues to sell its IMAT technology, which resides in the first Samsung WiMAX Express Card on Sprint's Xohm network. In February, the company secured $23 million in new investments. And in July it acquired antenna manufacturer Shanghai Universe.
