Why it went right: While it was not a foregone conclusion that Verizon Wireless would become the fourth major U.S. carrier to carry HTC's top-of-the-line Qwerty-toting touchscreen phone, it was a pretty confident rumor. On Nov. 13, Engadget reported that starting Nov. 24 (and available in stores Dec. 1) Verizon would sell the phone for $350 on a two-year contract and after a $70 mail-in rebate. Engadget used a Verizon screenshot to corroborate this information. The move left T-Mobile USA out in the cold as the only major carrier without a Touch Pro (or version thereof) to call its own. And, sure enough, on Nov. 24 Verizon announced that it would sell the Touch Pro for $350 after a $70 mail-in rebate.
