Vicky Obenshain, a long-time Panasonic veteran, is responsible for Panasonic's Toughbook line of products in the U.S. She and her team analyze business, technology and cultural trends to determine the direction of Panasonic's products. Thanks to Obenshain and her team's vision, Panasonic was one of the early laptop makers to jump on the embedded wireless train, working with wireless operators to deliver wirelessly-enabled laptops to their customers.
And because of Panasonic's early inroads in this area, Obenshain isn't shy about speaking out when she believes there is weakness in the value chain. Obenshain says one of the biggest challenges for laptop and other consumer electronics device makers is getting the devices provisioned and activated on the network. She has repeatedly urged operators to help streamline the process and make it easier for OEMs to make wireless connectivity possible for all types of devices.
