Apple CEO Tim Cook:
Siri goes nuts, starts insulting customers.
The killer app for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) new iPhone 4S is Siri, the voice-controlled personal assistant. Siri allows iOS device users to employ natural spoken language to access and perform device tasks like mobile search, messaging and contacts. Phil Schiller, Apple's marketing chief, described Siri as an "intelligent assistant that helps you get things done just by asking," and, indeed, the technology has proven popular. So popular, in fact, that an Internet meme started over the weird and random stuff Siri says in response to queries. Newly-minted Apple CEO Tim Cook's nightmare is if Siri becomes too intelligent too quickly and starts insulting users in a mean-spirited way or cursing at users. It'd be worse than "antenna-gate."
