Monetize new network technologies with Zyxel 5G/4G/CBRS CPEs

Mobile network operators are on the cusp of exciting opportunities, as new technology and spectrum create the potential to serve more customers in more ways. 5G and CBRS will both enable private networks and fixed wireless access, as well as a host of new subscriber services. Mobile operators want to serve customers big and small with these networks, but for some smaller businesses, rural areas, and suburban homes, these new technologies may be hard to access. In fact, some of these customers may not have reliable broadband at all.

Zyxel can help service providers extend the benefits of 5G and CBRS to more users. Customer premise equipment that creates new high-speed broadband service opportunities without a big increase in capex means flexibility for operators.

Zyxel’s 5G NR customer premise equipment gives service providers an economical way to bring high-speed broadband internet to underserved and remote areas. Zyxel 5G outdoor CPE is housed in an IP68 hardened enclosure that can be easily installed on a wall or pole. The device does not need to be located near a power source because it includes an integrated 802.3af/at PoE power device support.

With Zyxel’s 5G NR CPE, operators can extend the benefits of 5G to homes and small businesses outside the urban cores, which are more likely to be blanketed with 5G small cells. The 5G NR Sub 6 GHz outdoor (NR7201) and indoor (NR5201) routers both support standalone and non-standalone 5G deployments. In addition, both support gigabit LTE (Cat 16). Customers can enjoy state-of-the-art gaming and video applications, and operators can unlock new revenue streams.

When deploying CPE for remote customers, one of the biggest costs can be truck rolls, but Zyxel reduces truck rolls with Zyxel Band Pilot, a cloud-based remote management system. Key features include remote troubleshooting, monitoring online status for all devices, RF performance history tracking, remote firmware upgrades, and TR-143 speed tests. The solution is also accompanied by a mobile app for technicians, to assist them with correct CPE installation. The app includes user-friendly features like one-touch zoom in/zoom out so that operators can instantly see RF conditions in hour-by-hour detail.

Service providers can build new revenue streams with Zyxel’s LTE routers. Zyxel offers three outdoor solutions and one indoor solution. The LTE7485 is an OnGo-certified bridge/router that delivers download speeds of up to 580 Mbps with built-in 4x4 MIMO and a high-gain antenna. The LTE 7485 offers a maximum EIRP of 36dBm. Customers who do not require that much power may opt for the LTE7480 CBRS outdoor bridge/router, which also offers download speeds of up to 580 Mbps. Indoor use cases are best served by the LTE5388, which delivers the same superfast speeds with a sleek, omnidirectional antenna. For service providers that use licensed spectrum, the best solution may be the Zyxel LTE7461, which supports multiple licensed bands and offers download speeds of up to 300 Mbps. All Zyxel’s LTE solutions can be remotely tested and managed through Band Pilot.

Mobile network operators are ready to extend today’s high-speed networks to more customers and more use cases. Zyxel’s CPE, with a mobile app for installation and Band Pilot for remote management, helps  operators bring reliable high-speed internet to more subscribers.
