Clearwire quietly offers WiMAX in Atlanta

Clearwire's coverage maps on its website indicates that mobile WiMAX service is now available to most of the Atlanta metro area. Clearwire is not actively marketing the service, but indicates the offering is part of Clearwire's "operational readiness activities" that are part of the network testing process. The coverage maps indicate that most of the metro Atlanta area has been covered.

Clear's WiMAX service has only been available in Portland, Ore., since the beginning of January, but other rollouts are planned for Las Vegas, Chicago and Dallas later this year. Mobile WiMAX service that was running under the Sprint Xohm brand in Baltimore will also be merged under the Clear brand at a later date.
