Conexant exits WLAN market

Chip maker Conexant Systems has ended development of its WLAN product line and let go 140 employees as it continues to slip deeper into financial trouble. The company says it will keep making and selling its WLAN chips to existing customers with its current technology but won't be making any new products. Conexant expects to save $5 million per quarter as a result of the moves.
