Nokia, NTT DoCoMo target 2020 Olympic Games for 5G showcase

Nokia (NYSE:NOK) and Japan's NTT DoCoMo are using Mobile World Congress 2015 to demonstrate jointly developed technology that will form the foundation of new 5G networks the two companies plan to showcase at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

NTT and Nokia said they achieved super-fast transmission speeds of higher than 2 Gbps in an indoor trial using Nokia technology operating in the 70 GHz spectrum band. In contrast, 4G networks can provide downloads of up to 300 Mbps. For more, see this FierceWireless:Europe article.
