Sierra Wireless Airlink gateway is ready for AT&T LTE network

Sierra Wireless announced its AirLink GX440 rugged M2M gateway is available for use on AT&T Mobility's (NYSE:T) LTE network.

The gateway is designed for use in fixed or portable settings and enables higher bandwidth applications such as high-quality wireless video surveillance, multi-data-stream wireless connections to branch locations and mobile office applications for public safety and field service, said Sierra Wireless.

The AirLink GX440 also supports Sierra Wireless' Aleos Application Framework, which developers can use to create applications that run inside the company's line of AirLink GX gateways. The framework includes an integrated development environment and a set of tools that can be used to develop custom machine-to-machine (M2M) applications on top of the Aleos embedded intelligence platform.

The vendor said its application framework enables developers using AirLink gateways to integrate intelligence on the edge for more efficient, cost-effective deployment and operation of M2M solutions.

Sierra Wireless has been building up its M2M offerings and last month entered into an exclusivity agreement for the acquisition of Sagemcom's M2M business. Sierra Wireless has submitted a binding offer to acquire substantially all of the assets of the business for about $54.9 million in cash consideration plus assumed liabilities.
