SPOTLIGHT: LatAm region holds 13% of WiMAX deployments

Latin America and the Caribbean account for 13 percent of WiMax deployments worldwide, according to a study from research house Maravedis. The firm surveyed the world's top 100 WiMAX service providers and found that the Latin America region has about 153,000 end users. Maravedis included pre-WiMAX systems in the survey because they are almost certain to upgrade to the WiMAX standard. Brazilian wireless ISP Neotec and Mexico's MVS are the largest Latin American operators in terms of subscribers. The two firms have 40,000 and 35,000 subscribers, respectively. Article
