Latin America and the Caribbean account for 13 percent of WiMax deployments worldwide, according to a study from research house Maravedis. The firm surveyed the world's top 100 WiMAX service providers and found that the Latin America region has about 153,000 end users. Maravedis included pre-WiMAX systems in the survey because they are almost certain to upgrade to the WiMAX standard.
