In-Stat: Wireless modems grew fast in 2008

Analyst firm In-Stat said unit shipments of wireless modems reached 20 million last year as modem form factors are increasingly moving away from PC cards to USB modems and embedded modems are becoming more popular. In-Stat says embedded modem shipments will exceed external modem shipments by 2011. Before then, external modems will hit their peak in 2010, generating $2.6 billion in revenues, the firm predicts.
