Taiwanese WiMAX equipment makers are nervous about a potential spin off of Sprint Nextel's WiMAX business, according to a DigiTimes article coming out of Taiwan. Citing unnamed sources, the publication said if Sprint spins off the business, WiMAX could be delayed. The sources stated that any changes brought to Sprint's $5 billion WiMAX project would have a negative impact on the global telecom industry. Taiwanese vendors are attempting to position themselves in the forefront of WiMAX development.
