3G coming to business jets

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a mobile office! 3G access is coming to business jets, courtesy of 3Way Networks and Triagnosys, who have partnered to develop an onboard solution that utilizes an aircraft's satellite communications system. The network would allow for 10 simultaneous voice calls and would also offer High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) at rates of up to 3.6 Mbits/s. "We have prioritized the business jet market as this is where we are seeing the greatest demand for 3G bandwidth-dependent capabilities," said Dr Axel Jahn, managing director of TriaGnoSys. "The flexibility and cost effectiveness of the service makes it commercially viable to install and run on business jets of all sizes."
