Alltel Q3 profit climbs 11%

Alltel posted solid Q3 results with an 11 percent jump in profits, which the carrier attributed to subscriber additions. Net income rose to $402.3 million from $361.1 million last year. The carrier missed analyst expectation ever so slightly by posting revenues of $2.01 billion, instead of $2.03 billion. Alltel said it added 101,000 new customers in the quarter but ARPU fell 1 percent from last year to $55.76.
