Altair raises $8M in first round of VC

Altair Semiconductor, a producer of broadband wireless communications semiconductors, raised $8 million in its first round of VC fund raising. BRM Capital was the lead investor, joined by Giza Venture Capital and Jerusalem Venture Partners. Three former Texas Instruments employees founded the Israel-based start-up, whose line of semiconductors includes WiMax chips. The managing director of BRM, Menashe Ezra, will serve as chairman of Altair's board of directors.
