Analyst: RIM to face pressure amid Palm, Apple launches

Research In Motion, and its stock, are likely to face mounting pressure as Sprint Nextel launches the Palm Pre June 6 and Apple possibly unveils a new version of the iPhone (which is rumored to be on tap for next week), according to Citi Investment Research analyst Jim Suva. "Both of these events may be akin to shooting the rapids for RIM shareholders," Suva wrote in a research note. However, he noted that consumers are increasingly adopting smartphones and that carriers are continuing to subsidize them, and that RIM is well positioned to take advantage of that dynamic. Article
