Analyst: Samsung to overtake Nokia's top smartphone spot in Q2

The forecasts for Nokia (NYSE:NOK) are not getting any brighter. According to a new research note from analysts at Nomura, Samsung and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will overtake Nokia in terms of smartphone unit shipments in the second quarter, pushing Nokia to No. 3 in terms of shipments. Nomura even said that Nokia's position might be overtaken by HTC by late 2012. According to research firm IDC, Nokia counted 24.2 million smartphone shipments in the first quarter, Apple had 18.77 million and Samsung had 10.8 million.
