BellSouth, Sprint to launch data service network

BellSouth announced its has teamed with Sprint to launch an MPLS enabled data service early next year that will move across both BellSouth and Sprint networks. The service will target businesses with disparate office locations. BellSouth's service will start out using the company's private IP backbone in the southeastern US but will utilize Sprint's network in other regions. SBC and Verizon are also in the process of launching nationwide data services. SBC is leveraging its acquisition of AT&T, and Verizon its acquisition of MCI, to address business data markets.
