Sprint and Nextel Communications named Judith Muhlberg senior vice president of corporate communications for Sprint Nextel following Sprint's pending merger with Nextel.

airBand Communications named Jim Timmer as CFO. Timmer comes to airBand from Birch Telecom, where he also served as CFO.

Boingo Wireless announced Allen J. Pan as the company's new director of network strategy for Asia, Australia, New Zealand and India.

Motricity appointed Tony McAlister as the company's new CIO. Prior to joining Motricity, McAlister was an executive at Vodafone where he created and oversaw a new technology division, rolling out a service delivery platform and Vodafone Live!, the company's content service.

WiderThan appointed Terry Kremian as new global president. Kremian previously served as COO for Syniverse Technologies.

Akira Technologies announced David Hom as its new CTO. Hom previously held positions at Accenture and Cygent.

Defywire appointed Timothy Morin as VP of technology development.

Alereon's CTO, Dr. Jim Lansford, was elected co-chairman of the IEEE 802.15.3a High Rate Alternative PHY Task Group.
