The Tier 1 carriers are not the only ones launching holiday-focused promotions, as smaller carriers C Spire Wireless, U.S. Cellular (NYSE:USM) and Leap Wireless' (NASDAQ:LEAP) Cricket are getting into the act with deals of their own.
C Spire said all three of its unlimited plans will now come with the option of letting customers add a second line to each plan for only $50. C Spire offers unlimited voice and texting for feature phones for $50 per month; unlimited voice, texting, data and 30 minutes of online video for $80; and unlimited everything for $100.
Although C Spire introduced shared data plans in the fall of 2012, the regional carrier said customers continue to choose unlimited options most of the time.
C Spire also launched a new PERCS mobile app for Android and iPhone users that offers members of the carrier's PERCS reward program more options on the go. Customers can check and manage PERCS reward points, earn more points and share points with friends or a charity. Additionally, customers can redeem PERCS points on their mobile device for a variety of rewards, such as accessories, device discounts and gift cards from national retailers.
Meanwhile, Cricket said that from Nov. 28 to Nov. 30 customers can get half-off prices for devices in stores and online. And on "Cyber Monday," from Dec. 1 to Dec. 2, customers can get those half-off prices online. Additionally, Cricket said it will offer the Samsung Galaxy Discover for $29.99 from Dec. 1 through Jan. 4, 2014.
Not to be left out, U.S. Cellular said it is launching prepaid devices through Amazon.com. Customers who purchase a prepaid device through Amazon.com can activate it on any of U.S. Cellular's prepaid plans, which include a variety of options that offer voice, text and data, including unlimited voice and text with 2 GB of data for $65 per month, unlimited voice and text with 1 GB of data for $50 per month, and pay-as-you-go minutes starting at $10 per month
U.S. Cellular said devices that are available at Amazon.com range from $29.99 to $229.99 and include the LG Splendor, Motorola Defy XT, Alcatel Shockwave, ZTE Director, Huawei Ascend II, Samsung Freeform 5, Kyocera Dura Pro, LG Freedom and LG Envoy II.
