Virtual reality goggles, Wi-Fi and cellular network modeling and RF testing are just a few of the treats at CableLabs' newly refurbished headquarters in Louisville, Colo., a short drive northwest of downtown Denver. CableLabs is a non-profit research and development consortium "that is dedicated to creating innovative ideas that significantly impact our cable operator members' business," the company's website states. At the lab, the company tests new and innovative technologies that eventually might make their way into some new product from a cable provider. CableLabs' customers need to know whether technologies such as virtual reality have a place in the future of the cable business--and the lab is a place to try those concepts out.
