CDMA2000 subscribers to hit 40M by 2011

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) announced that CDMA2000 is gaining market share in Africa and the Middle East as 62 service providers in 38 countries within the region have deployed or have plans to deploy 3G services using CDMA2000 technology. As of the end of last year, there were more than 10 million CDMA subscribers in the region and this number is expected to more than quadruple within the next four years. CDG has also recently announced falling handset prices for CDMA2000 in India thanks to economies of scale, increased competition and a concerted effort from the CDMA industry.
