The Vodafone Group board member tasked with launching Vodafone's 3G platform and for creating a global supply chain is set to leave by year end. Thomas Geitner joined the board in 2000 after a stint as a CTO of the company. Vodafone said that it will move management of the new businesses and innovation unit to the emerging regions. The carrier is looking to reduce its dependence on the saturated Western European mobile market, so the move is seen as a way to galvanize those efforts in emerging markets worldwide. If anyone believes there is an ulterior motive, then we are always happy to hear from you.
