Cingular expands deal with Qpass

Qpass scored a major coup with Cingular Wireless signing a long-term deal with the carrier to power all of Cingular's premium content services. Qpass already provides Cingular with its mobile commerce platform. The new agreement now centralizes the mobile commerce functions with Qpass, allowing Cingular subscribers to purchase content via multiple Cingular-branded storefronts and services. Qpass also handles Cingular's burgeoning off-portal business, a business Cingular has pushed far more aggressively than competitors. Look for some innovative business practices from Cingular when it comes to the content space, especially off-portal content. Cingular's executives in the data space come from Europe and have witnessed the tremendous growth in off-portal content.

Meanwhile, Qpass continues to steam roll ahead. The company recently signed an expansion agreement with T-Mobile International to manage the company's premium content business across multiple territories. And Dobson cellular recently expanded its agreement with Qpass.
