Cingular Wireless and MobiTV have inked a deal to launch a digital radio service for Cingular subscribers. MobiRadio is a 40-channel digital radio service that costs $6.99 per month plus a fee based on data rates. Initially, the service will be compatible with three handset models: Nokia 6620 and Sony Ericsson S710 and Z500a. The handset screen will display track information like title, artist and album art while the songs are playing. The companies said they might expand the service to include downloads of ringtones and other content in the future. Earlier this year MobiTV launched its TV network for subscribers to Cingular Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Rogers Communication, Telus and others.
