Is Dell planning a move into the mobile market?

Is Dell planning a move into the smart phone space? That's the speculation after Ron Garriques, former head of Motorola's mobile-phone business, jumped ship for Dell. He will run the computer maker's global consumer group. But rumors are circulating that part of Garriques' role will be to help transition the company into the mobile space. It makes sense given the rise of the smart phone market, but the mobile-device market is fiercely competitive and price pressure rules.
