DoCoMo has 40M 3G subscribers

Japan's largest carrier, NTT DoCoMo claims to have 40 million 3G subscribers on its network, meaning three-quarters of its subscriber base is now 3G-equipped. "The pace will probably slow down from now on as we expect fewer people moving to FOMA from 'mova' internally," a DoCoMo spokesman said. FOMA is DoCoMo's 3G brand, while "mova" is its 2G brand. Last November DoCoMo had 30 million 3G subs.
