Ericsson's Vestberg dishes on 5G, exiting the modem biz and more

Last week at Ericsson's (NASDAQ: ERIC) Business Innovation Forum conference in Stockholm, Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg talked with FierceWireless Editor-in-Chief Sue Marek about the company's transformation from a hardware to a software company, its sudden exit from the modem business and why he thinks 5G will be a reality in 2020. Vestberg touched on Ericsson's position in North America, how consolidation among carriers might affect the company's business, and why the transition to software and services has pushed Ericsson to have more workers outside of Sweden closer to carrier customers.
