EU sets a date to vote on roaming fee caps

The European Parliament is set to vote on the proposals recently put forth to reduce mobile roaming fees in the region on May 21 and May 24. The timing indicates that the restrictions on roaming fees should be in place for the summer since the bill would require final ratification by telecom ministers on June 7. EU parliamentarian Paul Reig said the vote is "in line with the...decision to have the legislation in place before the summer holidays." If voted in, the measure would be immediately applicable in all member states of the EU.
