FCC delays AWS auction

The FCC announced late Friday plans to delay the advanced wireless services (AWS) auction until August 9. The commission says applications need more time to prepare for the auction of 1,122 licenses. The auction was originally scheduled for June 29, but the FCC's recent revisions to the small-business bidding-credit rule drew protests from those who now have to change their bidding strategies. The FCC's move establishes a new AWS short-form application filing window from June 5 through June 19.
