FCC signs off on ATN's purchase of former Alltel assets

The FCC approved Atlantic-Tele Network's $200 million purchase of former Alltel assets from Verizon Wireless. The commission's approval is the last step in the regulatory approval process; the Justice Department gave its assent earlier this month. ATN announced the purchase of the assets last June. The assets cover wireless spectrum licenses, network assets and more than 800,000 subscribers primarily in rural areas across Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio and South Carolina.
