Glu Mobile’s Jill Braff on carriers, mobile gaming

There’s been a lot of talk today about the role that carriers can play in the acceleration of the mobile game market. Many accuse the carriers of dragging their feet, or of demanding an unbalanced relationship with publishers. Jill Braff, general manager of the Americas and senior VP of worldwide marketing for Glu Mobile, told FierceGameBiz that she thinks companies like her’s need to start having a more constructive dialogue with carriers. “We need to stop going to carriers and complaining to them,” she told me. Introducing solutions and offering new ideas to carriers, she says, are key to moving the mobile game industry forward. “And when we’ve talked to Verizon or Cingular, we’ve found they listen to our ideas.” It’s a far cry from what we heard during Rob Tereck’s fiery outburst against carriers this morning—and likely a more sensible track to take. -Nathan
