Google to launch mobile wallet initiative with Sprint

Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) will unveil a mobile payments service Thursday for Android phones using Sprint Nextel's (NYSE:S) network. The news was first reported Tuesday by Bloomberg and later by other news outlets, including the New York Times. According to Bloomberg, the new service will allow users to purchase items and use coupons using their Sprint phones, including the Nexus S, which offers NFC support.
