HTC acquires One & Co. design team

HTC acquired San Francisco-based lifestyle and design firm One & Co. as it looks to enhance its image as a maker of sleek handsets. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

HTC handsets, such as the Mogul, used to be known as bulky pocket computers, but with the addition of the Touch Diamond, Touch Pro and the T-Mobile G1 this fall, the company has emerged as a maker of thinner and more stylish models.

One & Co. had collaborated with HTC as far back as 2006 on the initial design of the Touch Diamond, the stylish black-cased phone that emerged as one of HTC's top-of-the-line handsets this season. One & Co.'s client list includes Adidas, Sony, K2 Snowboards, Coca-Cola, Kodak and the North Face, and it will continue to work with them in addition to the work it does with HTC.
