HTC strives for more people-friendly design

With its leadership in Android-based smartphones, Taiwanese handset maker HTC is working hard to shift from an anonymous manufacturer of devices to a people-centric smartphone maker. With its acquisition of design firm One & Co. in 2008, HTC is hoping to compete with brands like Apple and Samsung by making design and user experience a more critical part of its development process.
