IDC: Smartphone shipments topped 100M in Q4

Mobile phone vendors shipped a record number of devices in the fourth quarter of 2010. In IDC's quarterly global mobile phone report, the research firm said that handset OEMs shipped 100.9 million smartphones in the fourth quarter, up 87.2 percent from the 53.9 million shipped in fourth quarter of 2009. For the full year, vendors shipped 302.6 million smartphones, up 74.4 percent from 173.5 million in 2009.
