Macromedia acquires handset interface developer

Macromedia announced it has acquired mobile device interface developer Mobile UI. The companies did not release the financial details of the deal. An existing agreement between the two companies already sees Mobile Innovation using Macromedia Flash as a preferred development tool for creating UI applications for mobile devices. The deal is a big win for Macromedia, which will gain more inroads into Mobile Innovative's extensive customer base, including Nokia, Samsung, Vodafon, France Telecom and Texas Instruments. The company also plans to use Mobile Innovation assets to create a mobile consulting practice serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
