According to a recent study by Telephia, 60 percent of ringtones purchased are realtones, or ringtones with MP3-like quality. Legacy mono and polyphonic ringtones account for 33 percent of the revenue pie, while callback tones claim 7 percent. The study used an opt-in panel of more than 30,000 wireless subscribers' bills. Hip-Hop claimed one-quarter of realtone revenues, while Pop and R&B realtones posted 17 percent and 14 percent, respectively.
