Metric: Enterprise WiFi sales drop for second straight quarter

According to a report from the Dell'Oro Group, sales of WLAN equipment for the enterprise dropped for the second straight quarter. Overall sales of enterprise WiFi gear dropped 6 percent in the first quarter of 2005. The overall global WLAN equipment market declined last quarter as well, but by only 1 percent. Some analysts speculated that enterprise sales dropped in part due to market uncertainty over Cisco's acquisition of Airespace. Cisco Systems remained the enterprise market leader, followed by Symbol, Airespace, Aruba, and Proxim.
