Metric: India wireless market adds 2.73M

India's mobile market boasts over 65 million subscribers after gaining 2.73 million users in August and 2.49 million in July. Bharti Tele Ventures, India's top carrier, added over 624,000 GSM wireless subscribers, making August a record month for the carrier. Despite the launch of wireless services in India more than a decade ago, they still only cover a quarter of the country, where six people in 100 of India's 1 billion-strong population use mobile phones.
