Microsoft to add SMS feature to Xbox 360

Microsoft plans to sync up Xbox 360 users and MSN mobile messenger users in a move that's set to link console users to the mobile phone within the next six months. The free service will allow Xbox players to contact users of smart phones and PDAs that run on Windows Mobile OS. This is, of course, a small fraction of handset users, but the service's price--zero--makes the case for keeping within a Microsoft walled garden somewhat reasonable. However, how many Xbox 360 players use PDAs? Sure, there's plenty of Gen-Xers out there racing home from work to get to the Xbox, but the market is still predominantly teenagers, right?
