Motricity snags $30M in new funding

Mobile content and services provider Motricity secured $30 million in additional financing. The round was led by Advanced Equities with participation from previous investors, including Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), New Enterprise Associates (NEA), and Intel Capital. This is the second round of funding Motricity has raised in the last 12 months. In October 2004, the company raised $27 million in a round led by TCV.

Motricity plans to use the new funding to expand its business to new markets in Asia and Europe and other regions. Motricity has a number of key partners, including Cingular Wireless, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Amazon palmOne, China Unicom, O2, Telefonica, and Samsung. Motricity is a member of the 2005 FierceWireless Fierce 15, an annual list of the top emerging wireless companies.
