Mozilla forms group to make sure Firefox OS devices comply with open web standards

Mozilla joined with a wide range of partners to ensure that devices running the Firefox OS comply with open web standards, which sit at the heart of both Mozilla and the operating system. The group the companies formed is also designed to make it easier to build and launch Firefox OS devices. Mozilla said Deutsche Telekom, LG Electronics, Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM), TCL/Alcatel One Touch, Telefónica and ZTE have joined it to create the Open Web Device Compliance Review Board (CRB). The CRB is an independently operated organization designed to "promote the success of the open Web device ecosystem by encouraging API compliance as well as ensuring competitive performance." The CRB said it will standardize performance by ensuring API compliance and making the experience consistent for consumers, which the group said will reduce compatibility testing expenses. Release
