A number of media reports have indicated that the Department of Justice is withholding approval of Verizon Wireless' (NYSE:VZ) proposed spectrum purchases--and related business agreements--with a group of cable companies that include Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Cox Communications. According to the reports, the DoJ is concerned that the deals will hinder competition in the market, largely due to the resale agreements and technology development plans between Verizon and the cable companies.
