Qualcomm and Connexion by Boeing today said they are working together to test in-flight wireless communications. The two companies have performed a series of tests that successfully demonstrated the simultaneous use of CDMA and GSM mobile phones over an on-board network with infrastructure and integration support from UTStarcom. The system uses a small in-cabin CDMA2000 and GSM picocell to connect by an air-to-ground satellite link.
