Report: 1 billion cameraphones in use this year

According to a recent report from Strategy Analytics, after seven years on the market, the number of mobile camera phones in use will top 1 billion this year. In 2001, sales of cameraphones stood at 3 million, while in 2006 the figure shot up to 500 million. After the number tops 1 billion, Strategy Analytics predicts the growth curve will level off. Consumers will then look for advanced features like zoom functions, autofocus, better flashes and faster shutter speeds.
