Report: Focus shifts to enterprise

Frost & Sullivan has a new report that says that as the U.S. market penetration rate grows and voice services market becomes saturated, more operators have started to focus on mobile enterprise solutions.

The analyst firm says that service providers need to equip the mobile workforce with scalable applications and, perhaps more importantly, they need to prove the return on investment that these applications offer companies. In particular, the firm says that customer relationship management and sales force automation are very lucrative applications.

These Frost & Sullivan findings may not seem particularly earth-shaking, however carriers have long emphasized consumer applications over enterprise because the enterprise channel was more difficult to infiltrate. But with penetration rates so high it seems as if carriers need to renew their enterprise focus because that's where the growth is.
