According to media reports in Mexican newspapers, America Movil subsidiary Telcel is poised to launch Apple's iPhone in that country come June. The reports indicate that Apple is planning to launch the handset in other Latin American countries soon, too. America Movil is the dominant carrier in South America and the Caribbean as well, so a deal with Telcel could signal an American Movil sweep of the region for iPhone carriage. Mexico's El Universial newspaper reported the rumored deal, citing sources at Apple.
